Laser Hair Reduction: The Low-Maintentance Way to Silky, Smooth Skin

By Sherri Roberts
Come the cooler days of fall and winter, many women take a slight reprieve from the meticulous shaving and waxing rituals we go through to wear summertime’s skin-baring styles. While we love the deliciously soft feel of our skin after these sessions, it’s a fleeting benefit that requires vigilant effort to maintain.
That’s the beauty of permanent laser hair reduction treatments at The Added Touch Medical Spa. You can effortlessly enjoy the sleek feel of bare skin 365 days of the year, so that razor stubble, painful waxing appointments, ingrown hairs, and embarrassing unwanted hair are a thing of the past.
Here are some of the most frequently asked questions we receive about permanent laser hair reduction at The Added Touch Medical Spa:

What is permanent laser hair reduction?

Our Gentle YAG Laser penetrates hair follicles with light energy, destroying the follicle at the root while preserving the surrounding skin. Its called permanent hair reduction because it permanently reduces the amount of hair regrowth in the treated area. This treatment works best on coarse dark hair and can be done on any skin type.

What areas can permanent laser hair reduction target?

Almost any area of the body where unwanted hair exists can be targeted for reduction. The most commonly treated areas for women are the face, legs, arms, and bikini area. Popular treatment zones for men include the chest back, arms, and face.

When is the best time of year to have laser hair reduction?

While we offer permanent laser hair reduction all year-round, fall and winter are particularly good times to undergo the treatments because you will need to have some hair growth present in the targeted areas.

How many treatments will I need?

We recommend that you have one treatment every six weeks for up to 4 to 6 treatments. Some patients may need to have more than 4 to 6 treatment sessions depending on their hair regrowth, and/or spot treatments may be necessary.
The hair in the area to be targeted should be trimmed, not shaved, prior to the laser hair reduction appointment. It requires only a few minutes to treat any given area, and sometimes numbing cream can be applied to sensitive areas depending on the area size to be treated.

How much does it cost?

The cost is normally $130 per small area, $260 for a medium area, and $380 for a large area. We normally discount treatment packages by 15%.
