Surgeon
Dr. Amado Ruiz-Razura is a native of Guadalajara, Jalisco. Mexico. Graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree and completed his Medical Doctor degree from the University of Guadalajara-Mexico. He served as a fellow in the Division of Neurological Surgery and as a General Surgery Resident at Baylor College of Medicine Affiliated Hospitals in Houston, Texas under the direction of Dr. Michael E. Debakey.
He completed his Plastic Surgery Residency Training at the Institute of Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery of the University of Guadalajara under the direction of Dr. Jose Guerrerosantos. He then served as a microsurgical fellow of the Cronin, Brauer & Biggs Clinic Association and the Plastic Surgery Service at St. Joseph Hospital-Houston. In 1986 he was appointed Assistant Medical Director of the Microsurgery Training Program at St. Joseph Hospital and in 1990 he became the Director of the Surgical Training & Research Center at St. Joseph Hospital. He was responsible for the accreditation and all the educational training programs and research projects offered in this 13,000 sq. ft state of the art surgical facility.
Dr. Ruiz-Razura was a member of the teaching staff of the Plastic Surgery Residency Training Program at St. Joseph Hospital for 18 years and serves as Professor of Surgery in the Division of Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery at the University of Texas Medical School, Health Science Center at Houston. He was a founding member and past president of the Society of Latin American Plastic Surgeons of the United States and Canada (SLAPS) and is the current treasurer of the Iberian Latin American Federation of Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery (FILACP) the largest organization of Hispanic plastic surgeons in the world.
Dr Ruiz-Razura is a member of the Harris County Medical Society, the American Medical Association, the Southern Medical Association and the Texas Medical Association. He also is a member of The Plastic Surgery Research Council, a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS) and a Fellow of the International College of Surgeons (FICS).
Dr. Ruiz-Razura is a member of
the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), the American Society for Reconstructive Microsurgery (ASRM), the World Society for Reconstructive Microsurgery (WSRM), the American Society for Laser Medicine & Surgery and various other national and international plastic surgery organizations.
