Drooping Nasal Tip
Rhinoplasty or nasal reshaping is one of the most commonly performed plastic surgery procedures at The Aesthetic Center for Plastic Surgery. The correction of a drooping nasal tip, crooked nose, and nasal hump can improve the look and shape of your nose. Additionally, internal nasal surgery can be done to improve breathing. Your surgeon can determine the best technique to use based upon your expectations. The nasal tip can be better defined by altering underlying cartilage. Your surgeon will evaluate the structure of your nose and face and discuss in detail your appearance expectations.
However, the best way to achieve your desired appearance goal is to visualize your new appearance and communicate this goal to your surgeon. Although no computer can determine your final appearance, computer imaging will help you and your surgeon determine the best way to achieve a balanced facial appearance.
Factors that influence the final results include the structure of your nasal bones and cartilage the shape of your face, the thickness of your skin and your age. Cosmetic nose surgery may be performed on female patients as young as 15 or males as young as 17. For dramatic reshaping, a splint may be applied to the nose to help maintain its shape. Soft plastic splints may be placed in your nostrils to stabilize the airway.
The surgery can be performed as an outpatient and takes approximately 2-3 hours to complete. For the first day following surgery, patients should plan on staying in bed with the head elevated. After your procedure the physicians at The Aesthetic Center for Plastic Surgery may offer a visit to your home by a plastic surgery nurse, trained to assist in your recovery.
Most patients can return to work or school within 7-10 days following surgery. Exercise and other strenuous activities may be resumed in about 2-4 weeks. It is important to avoid hitting or rubbing the nose for approximately eight weeks. Exposure to the sun should be limited for the two months.
