Just as women have the hormonally-induced
saddlebag thighs, so men have the hormonally-induced
spare tire around their middle section. This area is
made up of dense, fibrous tissue which in the past was
more difficult to remove.
Dr. Mentz in 1991 pioneered new liposuction
techniques that enhances muscular contour to achieve
a more athletic appearance for the male patient. Liposuction
is the removal of unwanted fat from the body. In this
technique more fat is removed in some areas, etched,
and some fat thickness is left in others to enhance
the muscular fullness. Small incisions 3 millimeters
in length are made in the skin just large enough to
accommodate a small hollow tube called a cannula. The
cannula suctions the fat from selected areas of the
body to create the desired contour. Any person who can
pinch 3/4 inch of fat in the abdomen can benefit from
this type of liposuction. Diet and exercise can only
reduce the spare tire so much.
